🎟️ Artist+ Code of Conduct
While anyone can create a VGen account to request and track commissions, you will need an Artist Invite Code to get artist access. This helps us keep the community safe from bots, AI, scammers, and other bad actors.
Because invite codes are tied to the person who shared them, it's important to be thoughtful about who you share yours with. Below is our full code policy so everyone is on the same page.
Please note that as of Nov 1, 2026, general contests, raffles, or applications to give codes to strangers is no longer allowed, even if the recipients are screened.
⚠️ Be careful who you invite!
Only share codes with trusted individuals you know, NOT complete strangers.
Inviting bad actors may result in consequences for your own account.
👎 Prohibited Actions
❌ Selling codes.
Codes are free and should stay that way. Selling them in any form is not allowed.
❌ Trading codes.
Unless you are giving a code as an extra gift alongside something of equal value from a trusted artist, trading codes is not permitted.
❌ Using codes for self-profit or personal gain.
This includes hosting contests where you receive fanart, creator assets, currency, items, or any other personal benefit in exchange for a code.
❌ Random giveaways without screening recipients.
If you are giving away codes, you are responsible for making sure they go to real, trustworthy people. Unvetted giveaways put the whole community at risk.
❌ Sharing codes publicly.
This includes "partial reveals" of codes in promotional posts and failure to properly censor code screenshots. Do not post codes where anyone can grab them.
❌ General contests, raffles, or applications to give codes to screened strangers.
Due to the increasing sophistication of groups who fraudulently misrepresent themselves as individuals, public giveaways are no longer allowed.
👍 Allowed Actions
✅ Gift codes to trusted friends.
If you know and trust them, go for it!
✅ Browse #VGenCode posts to gift codes to community artists you trust.
If you've followed them for a while and trust them, go for it!
💡 Best Practices for Sharing Codes
📋 Require participants to have a VGen account.
This helps ensure that the person claiming the code is actually going to use it themselves, rather than passing it along to someone else.
💬 Use VGen DMs to deliver codes.
This is the safest and most reliable method. It creates a permanent, verifiable record of who received the code, which protects both you and the recipient.
🚨 If you discover you've been scammed out of a code, contact VGen staff.
We'll do our best to help. The sooner you reach out, the better.
⚠️ Your Responsibility
You will be held accountable for any careless or poorly vetted giveaways. Invite codes are a privilege, and how you share them reflects on you.
🚫 Once again... NEVER share codes publicly. This includes "partial reveals" of codes in promotional posts and failure to properly censor code screenshots.
We know the vast majority of artists share codes responsibly, and we appreciate that! This policy is here to protect the community from the small number of bad actors who try to exploit the system.
