Blind box and mystery style products (sometimes called "gacha" style) are a fan favourite for artists and clients alike. You're welcome to offer them on VGen, as long as they follow the guidelines below.
How to offer them on VGen
We'll be honest: VGen isn't fully optimized for this style of product yet. We know it's something the community loves, so here's how to offer it with the tools available today.
On VGen, a blind box has to be offered as a Shop Product: the client purchases one product, and the item they receive is selected from a set list of possible outcomes. Anything you can offer in your Shop can be offered this way, like icons, emotes, chibis, or adopts.
For example, you could create a "flip a coin" product that delivers an item from your listing, alongside links to purchase each specific items directly.
To keep things fair and transparent:
- The full list of possible items has to be on VGen. Every outcome a client could receive must be listed on the Shop Product listing and visible before purchase. No hidden or surprise-only items.
- All outcomes have to be of equal value. Clients should receive something worth the same no matter what they get. Rarity tiers, jackpot items, or outcomes worth less than the purchase price are not allowed.
- Show how the item is selected. If applicable, include the selection method in your delivery so clients can see exactly how their item was chosen.
A quick disclaimer
These guidelines exist to keep mystery style products fun and fair, and to keep them clearly separate from gambling, which is not allowed on VGen in any form.
