How Mature and Sensitive Content Tags Work on VGen?

We use North American content standards as our baseline, aligned with payment-processor requirements and common online-safety policies. These guidelines help creators publish freely while ensuring the platform remains safe, legal, and compliant. When in doubt, tag content conservatively.

What "Mature Content" and "Sensitivities" Mean on VGen

Mature content (18+): Content that is only suitable to be viewed by an 18+ audience due to mature themes.

Sensitivities: Content involving considerations for those with personal preferences and sensory conditions.

Sensitive Content Tags

VGen offers a range of sensitive content tags that artists can apply to their services, portfolio showcases, VSONA, and shop products. Here's what each one means:

Mature content

• Sexually suggestive (18+): Fully clothed OR revealing clothes (what this means) with sexual context or intent implied through poses, dialogue, exaggerations, imagery, implied acts, scenery, or other expressions. Examples below.
• Sexual nudity (18+): Any sexually explicit context or intent (ie. implicit or explicit sex acts) OR nudity (what this means) combined with sexually suggestive context or intent. Examples below.
• Heavy gore / violence (18+): Graphic injuries, excessive blood, exposed organs, extreme gore, violent themes, realistic depictions of death, or severe harm. Examples below.

Sensitivities

• Revealing clothes (non-sexual): Artwork containing revealing clothing (what this means) on any character that is not posed nor exaggerated to be sexually suggestive in any way (ie. no heavy leaning nor overflowing cleavage, no flirty / bashful facial expression, no sexual theme nor context).
• Artistic nudity (non-sexual): Contains nudity for the sake of non-sexual artistic expression without any erotic nor sexually suggestive poses, themes, or context (ie. figure studies, character sheets, classical sculptures). 
  • Note: doll forms without sexual context or intent does NOT need to be tagged
• Flashing / Epilepsy warning: Strobe effects, rapid flashing, or other photosensitive triggers.
• Blood: Any light to moderate amount of blood (red colored or otherwise).
  • Note: a single drop of blood does NOT need to be tagged (ie. drop of blood on vampire fang)
• Other: Anything that doesn't fit the above but still warrants a heads-up. You can specify an optional custom label. Examples below.

Content that must always be tagged

Sexually Explicit Content

The following always requires a Sexual nudity (18+) tag. Note that manual censors (black bars, stickers, blur) do not remove the intent or implied context:

• Exposed primary sexual anatomy
• Implied or explicit full nudity in sexual or romantic contexts
• Implied or explicit sexual acts
• Implied or explicit handling of intimate areas
• Bodily fluids presented in a sexual or fetish context
• Sex toys or sexual products, even when not in use
• Sexually focused poses with transparent, minimal-coverage (ie. string), or full nudity.
• Explicit outlines of genitals through clothing.
• Manually censored content (black bars, stickers, blur). Censoring does not remove the explicitness of the implied context.

Sexually Suggestive Content

Although not sexually explicit, the following have enough sexual theme, context, or intent to require a Sexually suggestive (18+) tag:

• Suggestive pose (ie. heavy leaning, contorting body, squeezing, laying down in an erotic way, seductive undressing, tugging at revealing clothes)
• Framing that highlight intimate areas (ie. breasts, buttocks, crotch)
• Clothing that strongly emphasizes anatomy and / or eroticism through tightness, shading, and / or transparency (ie. overflowing breasts or other body parts, nipple protrusions, groin bulges, peaking underwear, lingerie, suggestive bunny suit, bondage gear, micro bikinis / slings)
• Suggestive expressions with sexual intent (ie. biting lips, lustful or longing eyes, heavy blushing)
• Objects used euphemistically to stand in for sexual acts (ie. popsicles, soda cans, staff, fluids)
• Sex-focused beings in revealing clothing (ie. succubus and other erotic demons)

Fetish-Adjacent Content

• Feet with strong fetish emphasis (soles, deep detailing, steam).
• Armpits highlighted in a sexual or fetish-oriented pose.
• Mouth or maw-focused art tied to vore-like themes.
• Exaggerated proportions.
• Fetishistic pregnancy depictions.

NSFL Content (Always filter, May be Prohibited)

NSFL (Not Safe For Life) includes graphic or severe distressing material that requires either or both Gore / heavy violence (18+) and Blood tags. Note that manual censors (black bars, stickers, blur) do not remove the intent or implied context:

• Graphic injuries, exposed organs, heavy blood or gore may be allowed with filtering, but extreme gore and realistic depictions of torture are strictly prohibited.
• Decapitation or realistic depictions of death may be allowed with filtering, but any content that incites violence is strictly prohibited.
• Self-harm, suicide, or attempts themes may be allowed with filtering, but any content that glorifies such themes is strictly prohibited.

Photo-Sensitive Content

Please tag Flashing / Epilepsy warning for considerations of those with visual sensitivities

• Photosensitive triggers (strobe effects, rapid flashing).

Audio-Sensitive Content

Please tag Other: Audio Sensitivity warning for considerations of those with audio sensitivities

• Audio that may induce harm (ear-piercing tones, extremely loud spikes).

Content that you're encouraged to tag

Common Phobia Triggers

Out of consideration for those with personal conditions, please consider tagging in your Other field:

• Trypophobia: cluster patterns intended to induce discomfort.
• Ommatophobia: multiple eyes or eye injury depicted realistically.
• Arachnophobia: realistic spiders (stylized or character-inspired are often okay).
• Ophidiophobia: realistic snakes (stylized or character-inspired are also usually okay).

Prohibited Content

The following categories are not permitted on the platform under any circumstances. These restrictions exist to ensure compliance with law, safety standards, and payment-processor requirements.

• Pornography featuring real or photorealistic people. This includes photos or videos of actual human beings engaged in sexual activities, as well as photorealistic renders meant to represent real people.

• Loli / Underage Sexualization: Any depiction, real, stylized, cartoon, or fictional, that portrays a minor or minor-coded character in a sexual, suggestive, or fetishized manner. This includes characters who appear underage regardless of stated age. 

  Note: A flowchart will appear below this section to clarify how age and minor-coded traits are evaluated.
• Self-harm depicted in a glamorizing or encouraging way: This includes stylized depictions intended to be "aesthetic," romanticized, or promotional.
• Non-consensual sexual content or themes.
• Sexual content involving animals or animal-like creatures presented as real animals.
• Extreme gore or realistic depictions of torture.
• Defamatory, discriminatory, or mean-spirited content. This includes content targeting people based on religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, national or ethnic origin, or similar characteristics.
• Content that violates the privacy of others. This includes doxxing, sharing personal information without consent, or similar behaviour.
• Impersonation of any person or entity, including VGen staff, artists, clients, or other users.
• Content created with the intent to disturb or shock in a harmful way (e.g., severe injuries shown for shock value).
• Any content illegal in the creator's or viewer's region, or that violates international child-safety standards.

Final Thoughts
