Verified status is our way of highlighting artists who have a proven track record on the platform. Being verified helps clients quickly see that you are active, responsive, and delivering completed commissions on time. It also unlocks extra visibility and tools for your account.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to apply for verification, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- $100 USD in commission earnings on VGen in the last 30 days
- 3 commission reviews from different clients
- 4.6 or higher artist rating
The $100 USD milestone is only checked at the time you apply. If your rolling 30-day earnings drop after you submit the application, it does not affect the application currently in review.
How the review process works
- Verification applications can take up to 2-3 months to process.
- Your application is considered pending until you receive an approval or a decline message. This notification will be provided to the email address linked to your VGen account.
- If there is a problem with your application, staff will contact you directly. If everything looks fine, there is no need to follow up while it is in the queue.
You will receive a notification once a decision has been made.
Why an application might be declined
Verification is meant to reassure clients that they are commissioning someone reliable and in good standing with our policies. Some common reasons an application may be declined are:
1. Off-platform payments and tip jars
- Links that encourage clients to commission or pay you off-platform can result in an automatic decline.
- For example, a link labelled “Commission me here” or “Pay here” that goes directly to a payment processor is against our Terms of Service.
- Simple profile links that are clearly labelled by platform name are fine, such as “Twitter,” “Instagram,” or “Facebook.”
- Direct “tip jar” links to payment pages are also not allowed on any artist profile.
2. Late or unmanaged commissions
- This is one of the most common reasons for a decline.
- Frequently missed deadlines, long periods without communication, or outdated timelines on active commissions can be red flags.
- Please keep your deadlines up to date and communicate clearly with clients if anything changes.
3. Suspected use of AI, tracing, or uncredited assets
- We do not support unethical generative AI on VGen. If we determine that you are using AI artwork, heavily traced work, or stolen assets, your account may be suspended.
- Using licensed assets is allowed only when you are permitted to do so and properly credit the original creator or source.
- Lack of required credit or unclear authorship can affect verification and may lead to further action depending on severity.
4. Group Policy violations
- Accounts must follow our Group Policy and label themselves correctly if they represent a team, studio, or group.
- Incorrect or misleading labelling of a group or shared account can lead to an immediate decline.
5. Other reliability concerns
- During review, we also look at overall behaviour on the platform, including dispute history, moderation reports, and consistency in delivering work.
- Not having any Verified Showcases listed in your portfolio.
- If we feel that your current profile does not yet reflect the level of reliability we expect from Verified Artists, your application may be declined even if you meet the basic numeric requirements.
In many cases, you can work on the issues listed above and apply again in the future.
Benefits of being verified
Verified Artists receive both visual recognition and practical boosts on the platform, including:
- A visible VGen Verified badge on your profile and services
- More commission slots and expanded limits
- Increased visibility on the main page and in search results
- Access to additional Artist+ codes
- A clear signal to clients that you have a proven track record of delivering commissions
Can verification be removed?
Yes. Being verified is a privilege, not a permanent guarantee.
VGen may remove verification at any time if we believe an artist is not acting in good faith, is misleading clients, or is not following good seller practices or platform policies. This includes any of the issues listed in the decline reasons above that may arise after you become verified.
If you lose verification and later resolve the underlying issues, you may be able to reapply in the future, subject to a new review.
