A great first impression is one of the most important factors when it comes to getting comm requests.
That’s why we’ve made it incredibly easy to look good!
There are currently 8 key ways to personalize your profile (and we’ll be adding more customization options very soon!), all located by clicking the "Edit Profile" in the left-hand section of your profile page.
1. Username
Try to match this with your most well-known username (ie. use your Twitter username).
Note that changing your username also changes your profile URL.
2. Display name
This is how your name will be displayed. We recommend using your username and adjusting any capitalization here.
3. Profile picture
A profile picture of your art, with a face is best (your art > your logo).
Recommended
- 250px x 250px
- Image or gif
Note that we currently don’t support custom cropping so please make your profile picture square (or it will be center cropped for you).
4. Profile banner
This banner will be resized for various screen sizes and will also be turned into the image in your Directory card, and the background colour of your nav bar. Choose something that represents you well.
Recommended
- 1920px x 1080px
- Image or gif
- COMPRESSED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
Note that we currently don’t support custom cropping so please make your profile banner rectangular (or it will be center cropped for you). Directory banner is 16:9
5. Bio
Good things to note: who you are, your specialties, languages, main software, location - don’t make your bio too long or people will just not read it altogether.
6. Work Queue
Our built-in public display of your VGen work queue. You can read more about it here.
7. Timezone and Languages
Displaying your local time and the languages you speak can help clients understand when you're likely available and how best to communicate with you. This information improves expectations without revealing your actual location or timezone, which always remain private.
8. Socials
If you have a separate Link in Bio site with all of your links, we recommend you add your most important 3-5 other links to help potential clients focus on your commissions and portfolio.
That said, you’re always welcome to use your VGen profile as your main link directory, and if this is the case, be sure to include all of your links.

8. Badges
Your username will always be accompanied by a verified, mod, or system badge (if applicable). But, you have the option to choose a secondary badge to display. You can select your secondary badge in profile editing. Keep an eye out for ways to earn new badges!
