Short answer: There are no upfront or monthly fees. We only charge a 5% service fee + payment processing fee to artists when you get a commission. Clients are responsible for their own currency conversion fees.
Our 5% service fee keeps our team fed so that we can continue to maintain and improve VGen for everyone. We only get paid when you do so we're 100% aligned on your success.
We support two different payment processors and so your payment processing fee will vary depending on which you decide to enable and which your client decides to pay with.
VGen Payments
This is our built-in local bank payout system, powered by Stripe (same system that powers payments for Twitter / Lyft / Kickstarter / Instacart). Note that by creating a VGen Payout account on Stripe, you are not creating a Stripe account.

- If you hold a negative VGen balance for over 14 days, you will be billed for the total + 2.9% + $0.30 for payment processing
- When you create a proposal for a commission request, you will see your exact fee breakdown so there will never be any surprises.

This is an integrated PayPal system. You may use an existing PayPal account or create a new standard PayPal account. We do not control your PayPal account.
