Short answer: Yes! You can split payments in any way with our split by milestones feature.
Whether you want to accept payments 100% upfront, 50 / 50, 25 / 50 / 25, net 30, or however else makes sense for you and your client, you can do so with “Split by milestone.”
Important to know
- Milestone 1 is always due upfront and must be >$0
- Milestone 1 can be used as a non-refundable deposit
- Open the WIP commission popup to request payment for Milestone 2+
- Payment plan availability isn’t automatically displayed to clients right now (on your comm box or request form) so be sure to mention the option in your description if you’d like to offer it
- You can pay separate milestones with different payment cards, but you will have to make remaining payments through the same payment processor as the initial payment (i.e if you make the first payment through PayPal, you’ll have to pay the remaining milestones using PayPal)

After you’ve received a request, you’ll find the Split by Milestone toggle in your proposal payment options:
Editing, adding or removing Milestone Payments from an existing commission
To request changes to the existing payment plans, go to Commission > Request Revision > Payment Plan. Revision requests for confirmed commissions will need client approval. Also, revision requests will automatically decline after 24 hours, so it’s best to message clients directly with proposed changes beforehand.
