Short answer: Depends on the artist+. While most artists+ accept requests from Guest accounts, some opt to only accept requests from VGen Users.
Either way, we highly recommend commissioning with a VGen account so that you can easily keep track of your requests, create Saved Lists, collect Client Reviews, and more!
Artists+ on VGen can choose whether to accept Guest and VGen User requests, or only requests from registered VGen Users.
If an artist allows Guest requests, then you'll be able to commission without having to create a VGen account.
However, if they've opted to only accept requests from VGen Users, you will need an account before being able to submit your request.
All that said, we do highly recommend having a VGen account when commissioning so that you can easily keep track of ongoing and past commissions, get comm / waitlist opening notifications, collect client reviews to help you stand out in competitive application processes, and more without having to dig through your email inbox!
