What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
2FA involves using an authenticator app, a security method that requires users to provide two different forms of identification to access their VGen account. The first factor is something the user already knows, their username and password, and the second factor is something the user has, such as a one-time code generated by an authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator or Authy) on their mobile device. This app generates a unique, time-sensitive code that users must enter with their password to gain access. 2FA is necessary for security because it adds an extra layer of protection, making it much harder for attackers to gain unauthorized access, even if they manage to steal or guess the VGen user's password.
2FA is now a standard security feature across various online platforms and services, including VGen. Its widespread use is a testament to its effectiveness in enhancing security.

How to get Set Up
Implementing two-factor authentication with VGen is a straightforward process. First, you'll need to go into your account's security settings. From the security dropdown, you can enable 2FA by clicking the toggle next to where it says "2-step verification"
Once the toggle is switched on, you'll be prompted to download one of the recommended authenticator apps (if you haven't done so already). From there, you can connect your VGen account by either scanning the QR code in app, or copying and pasting the provided code.
Lastly, once your VGen account is linked, you'll need to type in the code provided to you in the authenticator app.
Once this has been completed, you're good to go!
What happens if I get locked out?
Users will be provided with 10 unique recovery codes to save and use as a backup in the event they do not have access to their authenticator app. The backup codes cannot be viewed again, but it is possible to generate new codes in their security settings.
