What are they? Why is it happening to me/ my commission? How do I make it go away?
What is it?
A PayPal hold is a temporary delay in accessing funds from a transaction. It is typically initiated by PayPal to ensure security and mitigate the risk of fraud or disputes. A PayPal hold often occurs with new or high-risk transactions.
In a more straightforward sentence, the transaction was flagged, and the funds are held due to the suspected risks associated with it. They are held while PayPal investigates further.
VGen suggests delivering the final product once the Hold is resolved and moving the guaranteed deadline if needed.
Why did this happen to me?
Well, there's no way to know for sure. However, we've noticed that the Holds are more likely to occur if one of the following applies:
- The Artist+ PayPal account is newly created and/or is missing important account information.
- It is important to note that if your account is missing important information, a notice will display this on your PayPal Dashboard.
- Way less likely: PayPal has suspected the client is fraudulent
- VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE … Do not panic if you think this is why the hold occurred. PayPal will inform you if it's fraudulent.
What do I do if there's a PayPal Hold?
Here are some proven ways to reduce PayPal Hold times, as well as some general good practices for fulfilling orders:
- Promptly confirm receipt of payment and shipment of items through PayPal's interface. This can signal to PayPal that the transaction is progressing smoothly.
- Marking your order as" Shipped" or "Processed". You can get here by clicking the "Add Tracking" button on the PayPal order page.
- Linking your PayPal account to a bank account and confirming your identity can help establish credibility and reduce the likelihood of holds.
- Keep lines of communication open with buyers to address any concerns or questions they may have about the transaction. This can help prevent unauthorized disputes and delays in releasing funds.
If a hold persists for an extended period or if you believe it's unjustified, consider contacting PayPal's customer support for assistance. They may be able to provide additional insights or escalate the issue for resolution.
